Folksy for home made crafts in the UK
If you love Etsy and have an eco friendly conscience, then you’ll LOVE Folksy!
Folksy is a service that supports crafters and designers and it’s based here in the UK. That means we can all reduce our carbon footprint by not getting things air freighted from the US. Huge Green karma points!
By using Folksy, you can support ‘local’ people selling their home made crafts and I’m delighted to see a ‘recycled’ section where you’ll find some gorgeous cards, toys and furniture.
Folksy is young, it’s in Beta, but it definitely deserves our support so that it can grow and be successful.
Folksy charge 20p to list an item and take 5% commission on all sales. Listed items expire after 3 months if they have not been sold. If you have something to sell, you can take advantage of zero commission throughout their Beta trial - what gorgeous, generous people they are 
They have a support forum as well as the opportunity to discover how to make things. In this section Folksy are rolling out ‘how to’ guides so that sellers can show how their products are made and buyers can request something.
They have a blog where you can keep up with their latest news and find out more about their official launch during the summer.
This is definitely one for my favourites folder.

Ooh! I’m really glad to see this has finally gone online. I found out about these guys at the Innocent village fete last year, but thought they had given up on the idea when nothing appeared for ages. I’m sure the site will be huge now it’s up and running…

Thanks for the riff… and we hope we can show our green crafty design credentials going fwd. We cycle to work and bake our own bread, which is a start
