10 ways to celebrate earth day

Submitted by Mrs Green on Saturday, 18 April 2009 Loading Add to favourites  4 Comments

earth-dayEarth day,  celebrated on April 22 is your opportunity to do something nice for the earth!

The focus of the day is to celebrate the earth and renew our commitment to building a safer, healthier and cleaner world for all of us.

Earth day, every day

I hope that by taking part in Earth Day, people will be inspired to make every day earth day.

By taking a moment to think about our actions, do something positive to reduce our carbon footprint, vote with our money or reach out to our community, we have the opportunity to bring about great change.

Ten green habits

Here are ten ideas to get you started, but I know you’ll have loads more - please share them in the comments below!

  • Volunteer
  • Install a waterbutt
  • Sow something in a pot
  • Set up a carpool
  • Plant a tree
  • Turn appliances off standby
  • Print on both sides of the paper (and only when necessary)
  • Use a reusable shopping bag
  • Write to your MP about climate change
  • Shop locally at a farmers market

Celebrate!

The possibilities are endless! Do something nice for the earth, have fun, meet new people, and make a difference.

What about you? What will you do for Earth Day this year? Will it be just for one day or a habit of a lifetime?
