An alternative to the plastic highchair

totseat - the environmentally friendly high chair
Thinking back to the days that Little Miss Green needed a high chair, I remember hating looking at the sight of that big piece of plastic in my dining room.

We choose a wooden frame one, one that would come apart into a small table and chair when she was older, but the table itself was plastic and the seat was that ghastly PVC with foam inside.

We bought it second hand, and to be honest, we were just pleased to be able to get something.

I liked the idea of having her on my knee while we ate together, as we were very much an attachment parenting family, but once the fork had been pushed up my nose a couple of times and my dinner had landed on the floor (much to the cat’s and dog’s delight) we decided a high chair was the way forward.

Well, if I had my time again, I’d be definitely flexing the plastic over at Totseat

These gorgeous high chair rivals are a sort of sling for a chair! A Totseat adapts to fit chairs of any size, squashes into its own tiny travel pouch and it is completely machine washable. It’s transportable and isn’t going to sit in the landfill for hundreds of years. It sounds like the perfect green solution to me!

These Totseats have won heaps of awards including Gold at Global Women Inventors and Innovators Awards. It’s perfect for eating out and eating in and it’s lovely because your babe gets to sit in a grown up chair and feel part of the family.

They come in a range of gorgeous funky fabrics, that will bring a smile to everyone’s face.

Okay, that is too cute!! We are borrowing a highchair at the moment, but the thought of having it in my house for the next two years gives me chills (small house, big chair…).
Also wondering if it can fit a rambunctious four year old who falls out of his chair every day because he can’t sit still? (Not altogether serious about that one though…)

    Hey Melissa,
Great to see you again after your long absence. I think these look wonderful and would definitely get one if I had a small babe again. :)
    how have you been?
