Pack a healthy lunch

Submitted by Mrs Green on Friday, 4 May 20124 Comments

pack a healthy lunchOne of the best ways to take care of your health is to watch what you eat. According to hippocrates we should use food as our medicine and I am a firm believer in this!

Many people get stuck in a rut with their meals; eating cereal for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and a takeaway or microwave meal for dinner.

Why not ring the changes and put a new habit into place by packing a healthy lunch? It will take you ten minutes of preparation the night before, and you’ll be be amazed at how quickly you start to reap the rewards from eating well. That mid afternoon slump might disappear for ever and those niggly headaches might up and leave!

Stuck in a sandwich rut? Check out our tips for packing a healthy, waste free lunchbox or follow our easy tomato soup recipe for inspiration.

Great point! And one should not forget to pack some healthy snacks, too.

Thanks for that - healthy snacks are important too, to keep blood sugar levels stable throughout the day. Do you have any favourite healthy snacks to share with us? We make flapjacks with dried fruit and seeds in if we get a sweet craving or have some raw veggies with humous. What about you?

One of my favorite mid-day snacks is a mix of walnuts and raisins…. possibly a few dark chocolate chips if you are feeling in the mood for a sweet.

@Ben: Hey Ben, good to see you! I like your idea for a snack; tasty, easy to eat on the go and with a little chocolate throw in for good measure - chocolate has lots of positive health benefits you know ;)
