family_bicycle ride for national bike weekCycling is a great way to reduce carbon emissions, beat the rush hour traffic, keep yourself fit and healthy and help protect the environment. In addition, you’ll save money on running a car or public transport costs, so it’s a frugal and effective way to get around.

Bike Week runs until 21st June 2009. It’s your opportunity to dust of your bicycle and get out on the roads or into the countryside.

Bike week 2009

Bike Week is the UK’s largest cycling event. This year, Bike Week 2009 is encouraging everyone to ‘get more out of life’ by getting on your bikes, exploring your local community and finding out just how convenient cycling is for all those short trips we make each day.

Bike week events

With many people using their cars for trips of less than 2 miles, bike week is a great excuse to make a small, meaningful lifestyle change. It’s also a fabulous way to spend quality time together as a family.

Find out what is taking place near you, with bike week’s event finder.  I’ve found that our local transition town is organising a family bike ride complete with treasure hunt!

What about you - will you be taking part in bike week or do you already use a bicycle?
