Traditionally we all pigged out on the things that were rich in fats, butter and eggs before our gazzilion days of fasting on these things leading up to Easter; hence pancakes. The first pancake always used to be given to the chickens to ensure their fertility for the rest of the year AND it used to be a half holiday. Not anymore though :( Funny dinner - :D well, they are a kind of bizarre thing I suppose. They never lose their appeal though. A whole day devoted to Pancakes? Why oh why wasn't I born on the other side of the pond?!? :) We eat homemade pancakes for dinner once a week.
