Get electricity for free with HomeSun solar

We love solar power here at Chez Green.
Whether it’s a pocket torch, a mobile phone charger or running the downstairs LED lighting, we’ve got a few solar gadgets and gizmos which are fantastic.
I think if I had a wishlist, then more solar panels would be top of that list. There’s something comforting about being off grid, even if it’s providing minor power. It gives a feeling of self sufficiency and empowerment. Not to mention it’s handy when we get a power cut and the village is plunged into darkness!
The other day we had a letter from our electricity provider telling us that our prices were going to increase by 16%. I don’t know if you’ve noticed yourself, but over the past 12 months, energy companies have raised their prices not once, as expected, but twice – and one company is not happy about it.
HomeSun, a sustainable energy company, believe price hikes like these undermine the green energy solutions that could insulate customers from price rises. Makes sense doesn’t it? There’s free solar energy to be had by all so why isn’t it happening faster?
There are lots of companies now offering free solar panels to consumers. In exchange for ‘borrowing’ your roof, you get free electricity between dawn and dusk while the company benefit from the Government’s Feed In Tariff. I’ve explained how it works in my “Solar panels – should you buy or lease?” article.
So far I’ve only come across companies who offer free solar panels OR give you the option to buy outright (usually around £15,000). If your roof isn’t the perfect pitch and facing south then you don’t usually qualify for the free scheme which is a shame; as there is still plenty of electricity to be generated. However HomeSun are still offering you a way to save money with their SolarShare scheme.
With their SolarShare scheme you pay up to £500 for which they’ll instal a 2.4kWp or 2.6kWp system, and fully maintain it for 25 years. I think this is a fantastic compromise and gives hope to us homeowners who don’t have south-facing houses; like us!
HomeSun have calculated that installing free solar on your home could save you £237 per year on your electricity bills. What’s not to love!
I’d love to hear your experience of solar – do you have solar at home? Do you think the SolarShare is a good compromise for those in a ‘less than perfect’ position to the sun?
