full moon in virgo

Today is the full moon in Virgo. As we find ourselves in the midst of a credit crunch and it looks like we are steering the planet into a slow, painful suicide, how do we balance ‘real life’ with spiritual awareness and nurturing?
Many of us aspire to spending a couple of hours a day in mindful awareness, in meditation or reading spiritual works, but how many of us are able to achieve this with the demands of our life and family commitments?
While the sun is in Pisces and the moon is in Virgo, we can feel overwhelmed. Pisces sun coos us towards spiritual pursuits and takes comfort in meditation and connecting with our inner wisdom. Either that or the energy will drive you towards escape through TV, food, alcohol or drugs – anything which can numb your pain and confusion.
Meanwhile, Virgo shouts at us to get out of bed, pay attention to details and sort our lives out.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, then play a game of compromise and give yourself the mantra ‘just one more thing’.
If you have a toppling pile of paperwork to deal with, then take the top sheet, deal with it and file it. Move to the next piece of paper and set yourself a time limit for focused, precise work. Got a whole room to declutter? Start with one small shelf, one small box – you get the picture …
This helps the mind to avoid overwhelm, which can trigger the ‘flight or fight’ mechanism resulting in anxiety or nervousness. It also helps to sidestep the Virgo critical nature which can constantly berate you for not doing things right. Give yourself Piscean compassion and support; there is no need to beat yourself up.
Talking of anxious and nervous, Virgo full moon shines the light on our health. The physical body is the last place that illness manifests. Long before the symptoms show up in all their glory there will have been some chronic emotional or spiritual unrest that has been taking place.
Take a moment today to reflect on any health issues and have an honest look at where you need to make changes. Perhaps you do need to prioritise some meditation or yoga time. Maybe you need to begin a detox routine or change some unhealthy habits.
Virgo loves to serve others, so it’s a great time to combine healing with reaching out to others. Through healing others, we heal ourselves.
Ritual for full moon in Virgo. Taken from Donna Cunningham’s ‘Moon Signs’ book
Select one area of your life where you’re very self-critical about yourself. Visualise yourself and the entire situation surrounded by lavender light. Affirm that you love yourself and are presently doing the best you can. Ask your Higher Self for new ideas on how to do better and expect the answer during this moon sign. End with the affirmation: ” I release my addiction to perfection.”
