How to make the perfect smoothie

Browse main article categories

smoothieYou might remember at the beginning of the month I was on a quest to make super smooth smoothies.

You know, the sort you pick up in a store in a tiny bottle with a huge price tag.

little Miss Green loves these sorts of drinks and, as a busy Mum, they kind of assuage my guilty conscience a little as I feel I’m giving her something healthy and nutritious to drink.

Yes, I should be making healthy meals from scratch every day, but the truth is, I don’t always manage it.

I’ve tried to make smoothies before in a cheap blender but it really didn’t work. Some of the fruit got stuck beneath the blades which meant we ended up with more of a sweet soup than a drink. They were also very fibrous which didn’t exactly make a satisfying experience.

The Vitamix promises to make smoothies just like the shop bought ones as it has an industrial motor inside the base.

The blades spin at an astonishing rate which means everything gets beautifully whipped into a silky smooth drink.

Can a Vitamix make smoothies as good as shop bought? Let’s find out!
